Jelissa Thomas is a proud mother, educator, and writer who believes in the magic of stories to shape how children see themselves and the world. With over a decade of experience in education, she has dedicated her career to helping young people discover the joy and power of words.

Her debut children’s book, Just One Small Word, was inspired by her journey as a mom, capturing the laughter, lessons, and love that come with watching little ones grow. Jelissa writes with the hope that families everywhere will find comfort, connection, and wonder in her stories as they reflect on their own journeys.

When she’s not writing, Jelissa enjoys navigating parenthood with her daughter, Taylor, uncovering adventures in everyday moments and imagining the next tale to share.

Who we are

A woman and a young girl are sitting together, both smiling. The woman has long, wavy black hair and is dressed in a white suit with high-heeled, feathered shoes. The girl is wearing a white dress with pink flowers on the top, a matching pink bow in her hair, and pink shoes with bows. The background is plain and light-colored.
A man and a woman sit at a table with two mugs of coffee and a plate of cookies, engaging in a conversation in a cozy room with a window, a vase with flowers, and a table.
A family of three walking in a park with trees and grass, holding hands and smiling, with yellow flowers in the foreground.
Two adults, a man and a woman, stand in a living room holding clothes and a stuffed animal, looking surprised. A young girl with curly hair, sitting against a blue wall, looks annoyed and crosses her arms.
A family of three jumping on a trampoline indoors near a window with a garden view.
